Taking inspiration from film noir, Alburoto's charcoal drawings in his Sober Club series involve a handful of smudging and dimming of images. Capturing festiveness and intimacy amidst a bleak reality, the artist reminds the viewer that what are deemed escapist tendencies could evolve into sites of righteous rebellion.
